Mobile means the van carries the glass, the urethane, the primers, the cut-out tools and the vacuum to you. In the Kansas City metro that is the default arrangement, not an upsell, because the alternative is surrendering a car for half a day across a metro that spans two states.
What makes a good spot for the work?
Level ground, out of direct rain, with roughly ten feet of clear space on the damaged side so a full windshield can be lifted and set without contacting the body. A driveway works. So does an apartment surface lot, an office lot, or a deck inside a parking garage.
Covered beats open in December. A garage deck holds a steadier temperature than an exposed lot, and a steadier temperature means a more predictable adhesive cure.
What weather stops the job?
Rain and blowing dust stop it, not cold. Urethane needs a clean, dry bond line. A drop of water or a film of dust on a primed frit band is the most common cause of a leak at the top corners or a whistle that only shows up above 55 mph.
Cold slows things instead of stopping them. Urethane cures on the moisture in the air, so a dry cold snap extends the wait before the car is safe to drive. In an ice storm we would rather reschedule or move you to a covered deck than lay a bead outdoors and hope.
Why does mobile service make particular sense here?
Because of how the metro is laid out. The I-435 beltway rings the area across two states, State Line Road splits it down the middle, and the population is spread from the Northland down to Olathe rather than concentrated in one core. A shop appointment in this metro often costs an hour of driving before any glass gets touched.
There is also the registration split. Missouri vehicles fall under the Motor Vehicle Inspection program run by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which reviews windshield condition. Kansas requires no periodic safety inspection for private passenger vehicles. Coming to you means we can work either side of the line on the same day.
What should you have ready?
- The VIN. Glass options vary by trim, not by model. A camera bracket, a rain sensor, an acoustic interlayer or a heated wiper park strip all change which part number is correct.
- The keys, since doors and the ignition may need to open during the work.
- A cleared work area. Move valuables, loose paperwork and child seats out of the front of the cabin.
- Access details. Gate codes, permit spots, or a garage with a clearance bar. Cargo vans carrying full windshields need real height.
What happens after we drive away?
For a bonded replacement, the rules for the first day are short and they matter:
- Leave the retention tape on for about 24 hours. It is holding trim alignment while the urethane finishes curing.
- Leave a window cracked about an inch for the first day, so closing a door does not spike cabin pressure against fresh adhesive.
- Skip the car wash and pressure washer for a couple of days. High-pressure water aimed at a fresh bead is exactly the wrong test.
- If a leak is going to appear, it shows at the upper corners first. Run a hose over the glass and tell us; a bead is repairable.
Where we come to you
Kansas City and Independence in Missouri, Lee’s Summit, and Overland Park and Olathe in Kansas. Chip repairs take about 30 minutes on site. Full replacements need roughly an hour of cure time before the vehicle moves, so we schedule around a spot the car can sit in rather than around a waiting room.
Not sure if it's repairable? Send a photo or describe it on the phone — we'll tell you straight, and a repair is cheaper than a replacement every time.

Where can you do a mobile auto glass job?
Anywhere reasonably level and out of direct rain: a driveway, an apartment surface lot, an office parking lot, or a covered garage deck. We need about ten feet of clear space on the damaged side to swing the glass into place safely.
Can you replace glass in cold or wet weather?
Cold yes, wet no. Urethane cures on humidity but has a minimum application temperature and needs a dry bond line. Rain or blowing dust on primed glass causes leaks and wind whistle, so in bad weather we move the car under cover instead.
What do you need from me before the appointment?
The VIN, because glass options change by trim, plus the keys and a parking spot. Clear valuables and child seats from the work area, and tell us about gate codes or a low garage clearance, since glass vans need real height.
